Framed Flower Vases

Thanks to a  lovely email from Katie of Newcomb Home, I found this fantastic DIY frame idea that I felt I had to share with you all.  Beverly of Flamingo Toes has created a stunning focal piece with this bud vase flower display using an old door with chicken wire, frames, and small bottles & vases.  This would be a great addition to hang behind a dessert table, or to use in home decor.  You can see the full tutorial by visiting Flamingo Toes blog.

Modern Tabletop Inspiration

The ladies of Carter & Cook designed this beautiful modern tablescape for the HITCHED event recently.  The centerpiece here is sensational combining gorgeous florals from Arrangements, with tall rustic branches, and topping it all with a whimsical antler 'mobile'.  

Other notable details from this table are the tulle rosettes attached to the napkins and drink stirs, and the adorable antler cookies for each guest.

Teacup Centerpiece {DIY}

Here's an easy DIY centerpiece idea from Kelly Porter of Porter House Designs.  She uses simple teacups, adds some adhesive jewels to the design, and inserts roses in a minimalistic, modern way(inserted into floral foam).  Cover the floral foam with some moss and you have a lovely centerpiece for Birthdays, or Showers! 

Crafty Flowers

One of my favorite 'crafty' design elements is faux flowers.  There are so many different ways to use them in your entertaining decor.  Add a few faux flowers into a bouquet of real flowers, create a centerpiece entirely of hand crafted flowers, create napkin rings, table runners, hanging decor...the possibilities are endless!  And depending on the materials you use, they can have a whimsical, sophisticated, or vintage feel.   

Some great materials to use are felt, scrapbook paper, tissue paper, hand-made paper, newspaper print, even an old phone book (as seen above).  Check out these great sources and tutorials for more on creating your own faux flowers:

Florals, Ribbon, & Bling, Oh My!

These inspiring images come from Botanica Floral Designs of Sacramento. I don't have a lot of dialogue to add, except the fact that I love the use of "bling" in her arrangements, and the use of ribbon and florals on the lanterns. Just beautiful inspiration for your next event.

Hanging Glass Vases

This is a fun and unique way to add decor to your next event. These hanging glass vases from Pear and Peony, can be filled with water and hold a single flower stem. A set of 5 is only $15, and the colored satin band comes in your choice of 9 colors.

These would look great hanging above a buffet table, a dining table, along walkways, or from tree branches. You could also fill with colored water or sand.

DIY Floral Arrangement

I don't care what anyone says, Carnations are Fabulous! Why would anyone want to downplay it's full fluffy head, and lacey edges?.....Just because it's Economical???!! I say 'don't hate, appreciate!' And create one or more of these adorable little arrangements for the Christmas Season. There is a great tutorial on Bliss Tree to get you started. These would look stunning in mass for a red and white party. Check it out.

Bright Idea To Coordinate A Table

This gorgeous tabletop from Bliss Events, not only gives us great inspiration, but also can teach us a lesson. The centerpiece vases are a perfectly coordinated mixture of patterns in the same color scheme. A great reminder of how you can bring together a look when you think you have nothing that matches. Just gather several containers, from glass cylanders to soup cans, and wrap them in 2 or 3 coordinating patterns of scrapbook paper, wrapping paper, or even fabric. Fill the containers with flowers and you have an elegant look that is beautifully coordinated and suitable for any event.

Exotic Tabletop

Here is a gorgeous tablescape from Amorology that takes you on an exotic trip to India...even if only for an evening. You could sooo do this for a special birthday or engagement party. Use craft/floral foam squares to recreate the centerpieces. Just push cut flowers right in and set on top of a candle stick. Use the idea of the elephants on top to create this, or any other themed look.

DIY Floral Frame

Yes, you DIY-ers out there, I'm pretty sure you can recreate this beautiful piece from J. L. Designs. Just take an old frame or mirror and remove the back. Replace it with craft foam and start pushing the flowers into the foam. Wheather you use real or faux flowers, this is sure to be a showpiece. I can see this hanging behind the bar, sitting on a easel at the entrance, or even used as a backdrop for a "photo booth." You know what else would be cool? To place a monogram in the center! Now, go get crafty!

Creative Touches For Mom

How about some beautiful DIY projects for Mother's Day? Starting with this lovely homemade card above. Peruse the scrapbook isle and get some fun embelishments and papers to create your own.

While you're there, get some ribbon and more paper and get to work on one of these fabulous floral centerpieces. Wrapped cans, floating candles, fruit, or re-used bottles can all be used.

Easter Inspirations

Okay you guys, I dare you to look at these beautiful tabletops from Southern Living and not be inspired!! I literally want to do them ALL!! How perfect is this table for a fun family get-together which includes lots of kids?! It certainly sets the stage for an Easter egg hunt to follow.

How about this charming and whimsical butterfly table? Perfectly placed butterfly details really make a statement here.

This is absolutely a favorite of mine! A few bags of moss glued to an inexpensive runner makes an Amazing focal point.

Did You Say Jello?!

I swear some of the best blog posts come to you when you're not even looking!! I was looking for some other random information and stumbled onto this interesting idea from Rachel Ray via recipezaar. This beautiful centerpiece was created using Jello!! That's right...Jello! Check out the how-to here. The great thing is you can use any flavor...I mean color.

Easy, Yet Beautiful Table Decor

We are down to the last few days before Christmas....I swear Thanksgiving was just last week!! Here are a few simple, but so cute, table decorations. I love this idea for anyone who loves the "retro/modern" look. Those old fashioned Christmas bulbs never looked so good! The larger vase has a smaller vase inside, filled with water and a floating candle. The bulbs just cover the space between the two so you don't need as many bulbs as it looks.

I think we all know that it doesn't get any simpler than putting Christmas balls in a jar or vase. What I love here is the color combination of black and red, and the unexpected detail of extra balls sitting atop candle sticks.

These little Christmas balls have been glued to a small mirror disc that you can find at the craft store. The top hanger piece has been removed and tiny flowers and berries are set inside. These would make adorable place settings as well.

Gone are the days when you have to spend a fortune on flowers to get an impact. The simplicity of these tulips in tall vases makes just as much impact.

What is there to say here, but Gorgeous!? Pink and brown have been a hot color combination for a while now. Coffee beans are the perfect filler and the greenery adds the perfect "pop" of interest!
