Winter White Details

Today's inspiration for weddings, engagements, or bridal showers comes from a collaboration between Andrea Dozier Boutique Photography and Simply Photography, and offers some beautiful images with great ideas and details you can incorporate.

The wintry white color scheme incorporates shades of ecru, bone, champagne, and brown...  

Sweet handmade frames are a lovely way for guests to write well wishes for the couple, and glittered pine cones are the perfect holder for the instruction cards.  Pleated fan rosettes attached to the wall in a random pattern makes a simple but effective backdrop, and cookies in a brown bag with tiny clothes pin attached make yummy take-home favors.

I just adore the cupcake display above, and the eclectic mix of embellishments for the hot chocolate jars.  Tiny burlap bags hold oatmeal confetti {oatmeal mixed with glitter} and offers a wonderful alternative to rice, bubbles, or bird seed, to be thrown over the couple.

A whimsical touch of blue is sprinkled throughout in the way of stacked books, cupcake sprinkles, and the ice skates which inspired the entire shoot.

Winter Celebrations Inspiration

We've got the winter blues around here...in a good way!  This beautifully styled inspiration shoot by Maine Seasons Events and Corbin Gurkin Photography uses a blue color palette, adding natural elements and pops of maroon for interest. 

I love the details of the table setting: moss-covered candle holders, birch wood pedestals, burlap table cloth, and a gorgeous array of flowers and fruit.

The dessert table also features natural elements including more birch wood, various berries, and twig cake ball handles.  This is a nice counterpoint to the elegant cake topper and silver glittery accent decor (beneath the tiered cookie stand).

Winter Plaid Dinner Party

You may remember in December I designed this "glam" table for The Party Dress' Holiday Table Challenge.  Well, in the end Kelly showcased her own design as well and it was this amazing "Mad for Plaid" dessert table below.  She also created a coordinating dining table (above) using the same colors and the red reindeer silhouettes - a great way to bridge 2 party spaces! 

Here's what Kelly has to say about her dining table:   I wanted to re-purpose the reindeer from my Mad for Plaid dessert table, and make the table appeal to both the adults and young children that would be attending. Keeping it crisp, with a touch of preppy pizzazz, I used my mod pattern from our Christmas collection for the base. I printed a vase wrapper for the centerpiece (hid the seam with ribbon), and also printed round placecards that sat in the center of my dinner plates. Old, red chargers found their way out of storage, crisp white napkins edged with polka dot ribbon (found at Home Goods) were tied with snowflake ornaments each expressing a holiday wish (dream, joy, peace, love and wish).

I simply adore the place settings!  She's a pro at turning traditional ideas and elements into something modern!

Now for the dessert table Kelly says:  I wanted to create a dessert table that truly spoke to my personal style - preppy, with a touch of updated style!  Always inspired by Ralph Lauren, I decided to play on my love for tartan plaid and mix different plaids to create a whimsical table, perfect for a cozy night of cocktails and sweets.  The table was set with a red herringbone tablecloth and two tartan plaid table runners.  The centerpiece was full of fresh greenery, berry branches and curly willow branches.  I used a white happiness jar to give it a touch of my modern prep style.  To add to the whimsy, I tied strips of different plaid and check fabrics hanging off the branches.  Using all white serving pieces and glass jars, I added swiss dot polka dot ribbon and candy jar tags to accessorize them.  I also used a combination of food tent cards and cupcake toppers to label all of the different sweet treats.  I also spray painted reindeer head cut-outs a red lacquer to sit on the back of my cake plates for a little extra holiday cheer.

What beautiful inspiration for any entertaining you may do over these winter months.  I'm pretty sure I'll be incorporating a "rag" tied tree in my future!

Berries & Branches Winter Party

This gorgeous party was sent in by Rene of Rene Takes the Cake, and is a fine example of a holiday party that doesn't "scream" Christmas.  It is wonderfully appropriate for any social gathering all throughout the Winter months with it's Berries & Branches motif! 

This soiree was a wine & cheese theme and served up delicious dishes based on berries, wine, and/or cheese.  The modern print table runners from HomeGoods are such a great base and there's no need to put them away after December 25.  Even the vases of berry branches can sit out until Spring.   I love the detail of the mirror appliques too, cut out by the Silhouette machine.

The yummy dessert table is accented by lovely printables from Love The Day, and consists of Red Velvet Cupcakes w/cream cheese frosting, Cranberry Coconut Macaroons, Goat Cheese Truffles, Peppermint and Cream Cheese Cake Pops, and various Candies.  Homemade Peppermint Bark was given as a take home favor.

For a more savory palette Rene served Assorted Cheeses and Crackers, Bruschetta with Pears, Goat Cheese and Honey, Brie en Croute, and 3-Cheese Artichoke Dip.  I absolutely love when a theme is carried out in the food, and the beautiful Sangria finishes it all off wonderfully!

A Snowman Party!

I have to admit I had another post ready for today, but when I saw this amazing Snowman Party from Setting the Mood, I haaaaad to share it instead! This is just about the cutest thing ever!! From the tiny little pom pom "snow", to the life-size "melting snowman" centerpiece, to the little snowman milk bottles, everything here is perfection. Even the color scheme is fresh and new! Loving the Orange!

"Let It Snow" Christmas Party

Let It Snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Friday night was our 3rd annual Ladie's Night gift exchange, and this year I decided on a "Let It Snow" theme with white, silver, and icy blue accents. Of course you can't have a 'snow' theme without snowflakes so there were plenty of those as well. This is pretty easy to do because everyone brings either an appetizer or wine to share. I provided the sweets with a dessert and favor bar.

The centerpiece for the food table was a manzanita tree spray painted silver and adorned with icicle ornaments and a few snow birds. I also added some blue 'leaves' just to bring the color up. White poms and carnations surrounded the tree and blue 'berry' clusters added more color.

A different snowflake sticker was attached to each wine glass to carry out the theme and help identify the glass.

This is such a fun night and a great way to kick off the holiday season before everyone's schedule gets too full. For more pics check out our Flickr Set, or our Facebook album.

Rustic Christmas

Postings this week have been light due to the fact that I'm preoccupied with prepping for a Christmas Party tonight, and a birthday party tomorrow night. Tonight is the "Let It Snow" ladie's night I mentioned earlier. Pics next week!

For now, I found some pretty inspiration from White Lace Wedding for a Rustic Christmas, or even a Wintery Dinner party in January or February. Three elements: bark, berries, and nuts!
