Pick-Your-Potato Bar

This Spud Bar makes me so happy - 1) I never met a potato I didn't love, and 2) the reference to the 1950's "sputnik" is just so genius and creative!  Designed by Botanica Florals, this potato bar includes everything: mashed potatoes, french fries, tater tots, potato wedges, potato skins, baked potatoes, and of course all the toppings to go with them. 

The fun "futuristic" labels for each item are a great touch too.  I am seriously jonesing for a potato now!

This table display would be so great for any occasion, but especially for a males birthday or bachelor party, game day, or even Father's day.

Takeaway Tip:

This bar is particularly well suited to convenience foods.  No need to hassle with recipes, peeling or chopping here.  Just buy frozen or pre-made items and serve it up in style!

Football Party

In honor of Superbowl Sunday I thought I'd post these photos from Setting The Mood, for a recent playoff game.  When it comes to creating themed events, Jamee never disappoints.  There are great ideas here for your own football party.  Just pick your team and colors and get started!  See all the pics on Setting the Mood.

Football Party Printables {Superbowl Inspiration}

Superbowl is right around the corner and if you're like me, you've been a football widow for the past couple of weekends in preperation for it!  This party printable collection from Shindig Parties to Go is a fabulous way to host a stylish Superbowl party (or any football themed birthday party) with customizable color choices (how cool is that?!).

You can be inspired by these styling ideas Amanda incorporated when she used the collection for a recent birthday celebration.  I think Superbowl is all about the savory "man food" and you could easily substitute in hot wings, subs, or mini sliders for the desserts shown here.  You can also replace the little boy's name, Chap, with the word "Champ" or your team name.

"Football" Food

Continuing our Super Bowl theme, I've gathered together some fun food ideas. It's easy to make these dishes look like a football or football field. Just mold the shape with a knife (or hands), and add 'football stitching' with thinly sliced cheese, or chives. Or, in the case of the guacamole football field & cheese ball, just pipe on the 'yard lines' with a decorator bag and sour cream, and add cherry tomatoes for the 'players.' {football eggs; football sub}

For dessert, carve out football brownies, or decorate team cupcakes (Colts, Saints). Football field cupcakes would be appropriate also. Again, all you need is a piping bag with very small tip. You can also use heavy duty plastic storage bags and snip off the corner (tiny snips!) if you don't have piping bags.

Choosing to do any of these doesn't take a lot of effort but the end result is so festive!

Gearing Up For Super Bowl

Are you ready for some football? We have Super Bowl Sunday in less than a week so I was inspired to put together a table representing the two teams, Colts vs. Saints.

• Simple to create, this design begins with a green sheet for the field and white ribbon for yard lines. The game is held in Miami this year so I used a tropical fabric (I had on hand), as the 'Miami backdrop.'
• Marshmallow pops were made using team colors, and displayed "stadium" style on stacked foam blocks wrapped in brown craft paper. Team penants made with toothpicks, felt pieces, and craft glue were inserted into mini cupcakes.
• A package of cake-topper football players (from the party store) is set on the 'field' and the goal posts are inserted into square vases with faux grass. A $1 wooden football (from Dollar Tree) takes the center spot, attached to a wire note clip.
• Water bottles are wrapped in black and white stripes(referees) and adorned with yellow straws & ribbon(penalty flags).

Finally, white dishes are filled with easy and filling football-friendly food. Add cold beer, soda, or a signature cocktail and you have yourself a party!

Mini Club Sandwiches

I think it has been established that "mini" food is just about the best food around! Here is a yummy little club sandwich that would be dainty enough for the ladies, but also hearty enough for the men.

1 tomato, chopped
4 slices bacon, cooked & crumbled
1/4 cup mayonnaise
12 small dinner rolls, split
3 slices cheddar cheese, cut into 4 pieces each
1 (9 oz)package thin sliced turkey breast meat
6 lettuce leaves, torn in half
Combine tomato, bacon, and mayonnaise. Layer ingredients on bottom half of roll, top with tomato mixture, and replace top of roll.

Superbowl 2009

So now we know it is the Steelers vs. the Cardinals. Start gathering your party supplies for a great Super Bowl party. We always play host to 12-15 friends for the big game. It is a pot luck party with heavy, man-friendly, football food. Think wings, nachos, hot dips, and more hot dips. Even though I don't do all the food, it is fun to set the mood with a few party supplies. I like the ones below becouse they are not too cheesy but certainly show Spirit! Hang a pennant that represents the 2 teams, from sports.ziggos.com
Have some fan paraphernalia for guests to play with. A Steelers Pom pon or a red megaphone for Cardinals fans.
Set the table up with a green table cloth and use white tape or ribbon to create a football field and scatter these football guys, from plum party, all around.
Use these party picks to top off cupcakes or sandwiches.
While you're setting up the table, don't forget about this little gem for serving nachos.
And what better food to serve than "pigskins" in a blanket!
Finish it off with some cupcakes decorated with green icing and yard line numbers.
